Healthy Eating

I have been a vegetarian for many years and can testify to its health benefits. Not only that, but it's better for the environment as it takes less energy to produce plant products than animal products.
Vegetarianism
Vegetarianism has a long history with the earliest records of it going back to the 9th century BCE. Many eastern traditions, most notably Jainism and Chinese Buddhism, discourage or forbid the consumption of meat out of respect for life. Here are some of the benefits of vegetarianism:
1. Improved Heath
Studies have shown a positive link between a vegetarian diet and cardiovascular health. In addition, appropriately planned vegetarian diets may be able to reduce the risk of developing cancer or type-2 diabetes.
2. Lower Carbon Footprint
Because animals also have to eat, it usually takes much more energy to create meat than it would to create the same amount of calories in non-animal products. Therefore, going vegetarian or vegan could greatly reduce a person's environmental impact.
3. Less Expensive
Meat can be very pricey, but vegetables are usually quite cheap. Because of this, many people decide to go vegetarian simply to save money. It may not be the noblest of reasons, but it is a practical one.
