Leaf Collection Day

2017

Gathering children to participate in hands on activity promoted teamwork and responsibility while educating the kids on why the leaves fall. This activity provided a sense of environmental and physical awareness while giving the children a chance to have fun while working in a group setting.

February 2018

Canadian Hometown Association

Participated in the filming of the Chinese New Year filming by the Canadian Hometown Association in Toronto City Hall Square. This involvement demonstrates the dedication to the culture and shows support for any future events and built connections with fellow organizers.

Spring Festival Event

February 2018

Organized the first ever spring festival event in Newmarket to celebrate the coming of the new year. This inclusion gathered the community together to experience Asian culture with traditional clothing, decorations and activities. This event showed my commitment to my goal of seeing talent in everyone and gave a chance for them to display it.

Ontario Five-Year
Volunteer Award

April 2018

This award was presented for the persistence of involvement, engaging our community and showing my support for keeping tradition alive. This represents my engagement in growing my network for the cause of providing more for kids with special needs and constantly planning events providing opportunities for growth.

RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award

April 2018

This award is given to those who have provided meaningful impact to the Canadian society. This represents the inclusion, leadership and creating positive opportunities for both children and the community.

Asian Heritage Month

May 2018

Participated in organizing the Asian Heritage Month event creating an opportunity for all to experience the diversity of celebrating difference cultures. This promoted a significant understanding of Asian culture and created a stronger bond with the community.

Hua Diao Association

May 2018

The Hua Diao Association made a generous donation of $2450 dollars to the cause of helping children with special needs. This contribution displayed great support for our mission of providing programs, activities and improving student development.

G.P.S Volleyball
Tournament

June 2018

Gifted People Services sponsored the Zhe Jiang Association of Canada’s volleyball tournament, providing an opportunity for community engagement. This sponsorship brought the families and friends together as a way to give back through team spirit.

Victory Banquet

July 2018

Attended the victory banquet for the volleyball tournament  and successfully won the bid for the Diaoyutai donated by the Consul General. This event strengthened the bond between organizers while showing support for the community, charity and demonstrates great initiative.

China Performance

August 2018

China visitor tour and organized performance with special needs in Scarborough Civic Centre. This event gave the chance to demonstrate the talent and skills of the children in front of an international audience. Through this event, the children left with a boost in confidence and provided experience for not only the performers, but for the audience as well.

Newmarket City Hall

August 2018

Visited Newmarket City Hall with overseas students. This provided the chance to meet the local community and learn about the civic environment. This visit allowed for cultural exchange, a chance for students to meet the broader Canadian community and improved their community awareness.

Nursing Home
Performance

September 2018

Took the children to a nursing home for performances and interactions. This act allowed for students to make meaningful connections with an older generation with plenty of life experience. This engagement reinforced the children’s compassion and illustrated what healthy connection looks like.

Health Association

October 2018

Participated in the 108 Health Association's social gathering. This event gave the opportunity to promote the cause for the school and allowed for collaboration between organizers while showing support to the community.

Dragon Culture Festival

2018

Promoting Chinese culture, participating in the Dragon Culture Festival, Hanfu, and tea art. This event brought cultural heritage to the community, giving a chance for participation in a large event and gave a grand example of how Chinese tradition is celebrated.

Chinese Recitation

2018

Promoting Chinese Culture through the Chinese Recitation. This gave an opportunity for students to experience the language, literature and meet others deeply rooted in their culture. This encouraged confidence in their identity, promoted conversing and supported the preservation of tradition.

Volvo Anniversary Event

2018

Attended the Volvo anniversary celebration, representing for our organization in a business environment to build a broader network for our cause. Participating in this event created opportunity for future collaborations and discuss upcoming events.

Caligraphy

2018

Provided an opportunity for children to learn more about their heritage through creative and experimental elements. This activity improved many children’s fine motor skills, focus and boosted confidence in a judgement free environment.

Environmental Protection
Event

2018

Bring your child to plant a tree encouraged environmental responsibility and taught children about how the smallest of actions can lead to a great impact in life. This expressed the idea of a brighter future and engaged in large community involvement.

Flower Festival 

2018

This participation created an opportunity to expose children to the culture and traditions celebrated. This event promoted awareness of culture, allowed for participation in the tradition and  emphasized the importance of social gatherings for student.
